Strengthening supports for offshore fishing
(vasep.com.vn) According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in May 2014, the Ministry will recommend the Prime Minister to give more incentives for fishery industry, particularly offshore fishing activities. This aims to bring higher economic efficiency, facilitate fishermen in offshore fishing, help them raise their income and protect the national security and sovereignty.
Fishery industry is a potential economic sector. Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested MARD to cooperate with relevant ministries to establish the preferential policies for fisheries industry, assist fishermen to remain their offshore fishing activities.
MARD is implementing the program on supporting fishermen in building steel vessels, installing satellite equipment for over 3,000 fishing boats and organizing fishing groups to boost mutual help among fishermen at sea.
