(vasep.com.vn) The delegation from National Food Safety and Quality Service of Argentina (SENASA) visited Viet Nam to inspect the local seafood processing facilities that have been exporting seafood products to this market.
In August 17th 2012, SENASA had a meeting with National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish). The inspection trip was expected to last until August 28th 2012.
During the meeting, NAFIQAD introduced SENASA inspectors about details on the food control system of Viet Nam. NAFIQAD also asked SENASA to focus on systematic evaluation of the legal document system, capacity of competent authorities and food safety conditions of representative fishery processing establishments to accept the full list of Vietnamese fishery processing establishment registering for export to Argentina submitted by NAFIQAD.
Argentina’s Ambassador to Viet Nam and SENASA said the food safety management system in Viet Nam is similar to Argentina. Since Argentina’s seafood industry is a small, SENASA looks to learn the experience from Viet Nam in the development of the sector.
NAFIQAD notified SENASA of the new legislation animal-origin food imports to Viet Nam and asked the latter to give the lowdown on their regulations.
A delegation of inspectors from NAFIQAD is expected to come to Argentina to inspect the seafood processing establishments there in second week of November 2012.
SENASA hoped that the two sides will mutually recognize and accept each another’s competency and the list of seafood exporters.
In the coming time, two sides will strengthen cooperation in quality control, food safety and seafood quarantine with an aim to boosting Vietnam-Argentina trade relation.
