Between January and March 2014, Chile exported salmon for USD 1,223.7 million, a figure which shows an increase of 40.7 per cent from USD 869.7 million registered in the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in terms of volume, 157,001 tonnes of salmon were sent abroad, that is to say, 13 per cent less than 180,420 tonnes exported in the first three months of 2013.
According to a report issue by InfoTrade for Aqua, the average price during the first quarter was USD 7.79/kg, that is to say, 61 per cent more than in the same period last year (USD 4.82/kg).
Between January and March this year, Empresas AquaChile obtained the leadership in terms of returns, with sales for USD 176.7 million.
Cermaq Chile was located in second place with sales for USD 120.4 million; and Los Fiordos was further back with sales for USD 112.9 million.
And they were followed by Grupo Marine Harvest Chile, with shipments for USD 94.3 million; Ventisqueros had sales abroad for USD 56.8 million; Camanchacaexported goods for USD 56.3 million; Salmones Blumar had shipments for USD 54.5 million; and Grupo Austral revealed sales abroad for USD 53.7 million.
Infotrade adds that other salmon exporting firms in the third quarter of 2014 wereMultiexport with sales for UDS 50.4 million; Granja Marina Tornagaleones had sales for USD 49.7 million; and Salmones Humboldt had exports for USD 43.4 million.
