Russian fish imports continue to fall under anti-import blows of government policy

(ubcomtell.com) The Russian government is serious about reducing the overall level of seafood imports into Russia, and making up the difference by more reliance on Russian produced seafood. As of May, year on year Russian fish product imports in May this year were down 28.8 per cent to USD 40 million.

This continues and accelerates what has been happening since the start of the year. From January to May this year, Russian fish imports fell 16.3 per cent to USD 156.5 million, according to the Federal Fisheries Agency, quoting customs statistics.
