Quang Ngai: Preferential loans to develop distant fishing boats
(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, banks in Quang Ngai province are offering loans with preferential interest rate and simple procedures to local borrowers from fisheries sector. As the result, hundreds of fishermen have more money to invest in building new fishing boats of high capacity for offshore fishing.
So far this year, banks’ credit offered to Quang Ngai-resided fishermen has totaled nearly VND1,000 billion. These borrowers enjoy the 1 – 2 percent interest rate. This measure is useful to facilitate their offshore fishing activities.
“Thanks to bank credits, fishermen did not have to borrow money from other sources with a very high interest rate and risks. This year, they have got high profits after fishing trips and are able to pay back our bank,” Nguyen Hong Chung, Deputy Director of Vietcombank’s branch in Quang Ngai said.
