Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, Quang Binh Seafood Director, said the company could not raise squid sales price to Japan after the Viet Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) came into force on October 01. So far, it has failed in negotiation to raise frozen sushi squid sales price exported to this market, and has decided to stop exporting this product, and focus on producing and shipping high- grade dried skinless squid instead.
Exports to Japan now account for nearly 90 percent of the company’s total export volume and value.
