Poland – Vietnam’s first importer in East - Central Europe

(vasep.com.vn) Poland is the most populated country in East – Central Europe. With a population of 40 million habitants and strategic location, the country promised a potential market for seafood exporters.

This is the only market in Europe having positive economic growth during the current regional economic downturn. After its accession in the EU, the country has changed most of its legal rules to follow the regional regulations. Polish people lives more and more in urban areas with smaller family trend; so convenient food become more popular.

Though Vietnam and Poland have built a longstanding trade relationship and the market is the largest partners of Vietnam in East – Central Europe, economic exchange between the two countries remain limited.

With Vietnam – Poland economic ties and a great number of Vietnamese living in Poland, Vietnam has many advantages to boost export to this market. In the first eleven months of 2011, Vietnam exported to Poland reached a value of US$397.43 million in which the most imported items were telephone equipments and accessories with US$138 million, seafood products (US$44.36 million), textile and garment (US$23.66 million), coffee (US$16.65 million)…

In 2012, with an aim to develop export to Poland, Vietnam plans to hold expositions in Poland to promote Vietnamese goods to Polish consumers and importers.

In summer of 2012, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade will organize a meeting with the participation of Vietnamese enterprises and representatives of companies owned by Vietnamese abroad in Europe and European companies in Poland.
