(vasep.com.vn) Through December 15th, 2013, Khanh Hoa province exported 179 thousand MT of seafood products to earn back US$330 million, reaching its export goal in 2013.
This result was led by efforts of local seafood companies in solving the lack of raw material for processing to export. In 2013, Khanh Hoa reported 98,000 MT of fish aquaculture and catch production, satisfying 40 percent of raw material needs of processing plants. Processors had to import raw fish to ensure processing activities and complete contracts with foreign buyers on time. As the result, exports to all main markets got rise; in which, three leading importers - Japan, the U.S. and the EU – reported rise in both volume and value.
Japan imported 15,000 MT worth US$85 million, up 27 percent in volume and 23 percent in value. The U.S. ranked second with 12,000 MT and US$68 million, up 21 percent in volume and 30 percent in value. The EU bought 10,000 MT worth US$56 million, up 10.3 percent in volume and 14 percent in value. Khanh Hoa also sent products to markets in Asia.
