(vasep.com.vn) Some seafood companies will get out of business by the end of 2012. Those are small and cash-strapped companies which run for short-term benefits and lack a comprehensive business plan, said Nguyen Van Dao, General Director of Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco).
So far this year, Godaco has assured its seafood export, in which the company sold clam abroad at a great price and reached positive results.
Though clam represents a proportion of only 30 percent in Godaco’s exports, it is considered as a potential export item with high demand in global markets. However, financial difficulties in the EU markets are weakening the demand of clam products. Godaco shipped 60 percent of its clam exports to the EU, the rest is sent to South Korea, Japan and the U.S… In 2012, Vietnam supply of clam is predicted to be more abundant than last year.
In contrast, pangasius companies are suffering a tough period of prices of raw material and exported fish this year. To overcome difficulties and keep business operation, Godaco changes actively its structure of export items and markets.
