GAA Signs MoU with Indonesian Aquaculture Society

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Aquaculture Society, in which the two organisations will work collaboratively toward responsible aquaculture.

The agreement came on Nov. 2 at GAA’s GOAL 2012 conference at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

“We’re pleased to announce the intent to form a relationship with the Indonesian Aquaculture Society,” said GAA Executive Director Wally Stevens.

“We look forward to expanding the outreach that we do throughout Indonesia in education and training. We’re looking at a mutual collaboration between the two organisations to advance responsible aquaculture.”

Stevens was joined by Dr Rokhmin Dahuri, M.S., chairman of the Indonesian Aquaculture Society and a professor and senior scientist at the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies at Bogor Agriculture University in West Java, Indonesia.

GAA also presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Chingchai Lohawatanakul, president of Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC, during the organization’s GOAL 2012 conference.

Dr. Chingchai Lohawatanakul, also known as Dr. Lin, was recognized by the GAA for his contributions to the success of Thailand’s thriving aquaculture industry as well as his contributions to responsible aquaculture worldwide.
