(vasep.com.vn) According to data by Vietnam General Customs, in the first 4 months of 2015, the country earned US$ 25 million from bivalve exports, up 8% over the same period last year.
The EU, keeping 69% of total bivalve exports from Vietnam, was the biggest market. Bivalve sales in the EU reached US$ 17.6 million, up 9.7% year-on-year. Portugal was the biggest bivalve market in the union. Import value from January to April by Portugal was 5.6 million, up 23.5% year-on-year. Italy, the up-running market, brought US$ 4.3 million, up 37%.
Accounting for 12% of total exports, Japan, the second importer of Vietnam's bivalve, paid almost US$ 3 million, up 11% year-on-year. In April only, bivalve imports of this market from Vietnam increased by 4% to US$ 856 thousand.
In the first 4 months of this year,bivalve exports to the US reached $1.7 million, declining 15.5% from the same period of 2014. The US was the only market in the top 3 reported decrease.
