(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, through mid-October 2013, Vietnam crab exports obtained US$77.8 million, declining 11.9 percent year-on-year.
During this time, Vietnam’s crab products were exported to 5 ASEAN markets in which Singapore held the lead with import value of US$1.6 million, occupying 51.7 percent among total imports by ASEAN. The next was Indonesia importing US$746 thousand of Vietnam crab with the proportion of 24.6 percent.
Singapore imported mainly frozen/fresh/live crab (HS code 03) from Vietnam with import value of US$1.7 million, making up 86.3 percent of its total crab imports from Vietnam and falling 17.2 percent year-on-year. While imports of other processed crab (HS code 16) into the market made up 7 percent, increased by 16.4 percent.
Among ASEAN, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia imported largely raw crab products (HS code 03) from Vietnam, however, Thailand favored Vietnam’s processed crab (HS code 16).
