Chilean smoked salmon, fishmeal exports to Japan and S. Korea now duty-free under free trade deal
Chilean smoked salmon and fishmeal exports to the Japanese and South Korean markets are now exempt from tarriffs under a free-trade agreement among the countries.
According to Chile's Foreign Relations Ministry, a majority of Chile's exports to South Korean and Japan are now duty-free which now includes smoked salmon and fishmeal shipments to the Asian nations.
Through October Chile exported about US$ 500 million in processed foods and salmon products to South Korea.
Meanwhile, Chile is already the top salmon supplier to the Japanese market and has sent over 121 million lbs of salmon products to the country through October 2013.
