Binh Thuan: Rise in wild catch through February

(vasep.com.vn) In the first two months of 2014, fishermen from Binh Thuan province have got higher wild catch thanks to abundant stocks of anchovy and other marine fish species.

In February 2014, Binh Thuan caught more than 9,200 MT of marine fish of all varieties. The year-to-date production reached 17,300 MT, up 4.9 percent year on year.

Through February, land for aquaculture increased by 138 hectares, leading to a total area of 838 hectares. In which, 328 hectares were used for shrimp production, and 510 hectares for freshwater fish production.

The province expected an output of 2,079 MT in the first two months, up 5.9 percent year on year; in which, shrimp was 1,286 MT (+10 percent) and freshwater fish was 756 MT (+3 percent).
