According to Sub-Department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection Binh Dinh, local fishermen have recently invested in building and upgrading vessels for offshore catching with an aim to increase landings and to earn larger profit.
Up to now, the province owns 7,226 fishing vessels with total capacity of over 900 thousand CV, in which there are 2,746 offshore fishing ones with capacity of more than 90 CV. The vessels operate all the year round in various fishing grounds.
So far this year, local capture production is estimated to reach over 18,700 MT, up 47.3 percent year on year, in which tuna output was 880 MT, down 32.5 percent year on year.
