Australia – the biggest market for marine fish products of Khaspexco

(vasep.com.vn) Between January and July 2013, Khanh Hoa Seafoods Exporting Company Limited (Khaspexco) exported 800 MT of seafood products, mainly marine fishes, bringing US$6 million of total value.

The current price of raw marine fishes for processing is higher than that of the previous year, as fuel price increased, pushing up fishing trips’ costs. In contrast, there has been not much change in export price. Some importing markets in the EU even tend to pay less for imported fish products due to economic downturn.

Compared to the previous year, prices for exported marine fish of all varieties dropped 10 – 15 percent averagely. In this situation, Khaspexco has been trying to organize its business activities to remain profits, as well as ensure product quality to keep customers.

The Khanh Hoa-based firm exported marine products to Australia, Canada, Japan and some Asian markets. Australia made up 60 percent of its exports. According to Khaspexco, Australia has strong demand for marine fishes.

Five year ago, Japan was key importing markets of Khaspexco with 50 percent of the company’s exports. Over recent years, Khaspexco has shifted its cargos to Australian market because Japanese importers bought less fishes and paid a lower price.
