203 seafood plants are approved to export to Argentina

(vasep.com.vn) National Food Safety and Quality Service of Argentina (SENASA) has approved the list of 203 seafood processing plants in Vietnam which are licensed to export to Argentina.

On May 17th 2013, National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, informed that exporters appeared in the list should register with NAFIQAD’s branches soon in each locality, so that their consignments can be inspected and certificated before exporting to Argentina.

Exporters should actively contact with Argentina importers to update and meet Argentina’s requirements before exporting to this market. Exporters should improve their inadequacies relating to food safety, which have been highlighted by SENASA .

After Senasa’s inspection trip in Vietnam in August 2012, the agency mentioned recommendations on food safety and hygiene conditions on several seafood processing plants in Vietnam. Accordingly, it noticed that processing areas must be separated from other areas in the plant in order to ensure food safety and hygiene conditions.

According to Vietnam Customs, in the first two months of the year, export turnover of goods to Argentina reached over US$31 million. Since 2010, Argentina has become the fourth largest trade partner of Vietnam in South America. Some main products exported to the market were computers, electronic equipments, seafood, footwear, etc…

Argentina will become one of the most potential markets for Vietnam enterprises to boost exports of goods, especially frozen seafood products.
