Tuna & Mackerel Stocks Down 60% in Last Century

(TheFishSite News Desk) GLOBAL - A study shows that the impact of fishing for tuna and similar species during the last 50 years has lessened the abundance of all these populations by an average of 60 per cent. Experts add that the majority of tuna fish have been exploited to the limits of sustainability.

Minh Phu Seafood Corp gained US$334.4 million in 2011

(vasep.com.vn) In 2011, Minh Phu Seafood Corporation (Minh Phu Seafood Corp) exported 28 thousand MT of frozen shrimp for total revenue of US$334.4 million, up 17.5 percent in volume and 35 percent in value over the previous year. The US was the largest import market accounting 37 percent of total export value. It was followed by Japan with 21 percent, the EU 12.8 percent, South Korea 12.6 percent and Canada 9 percent.

South Korea inspectors to visit Vietnam fishery

(vasep.com.vn) According to National Agro Forestry Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) will send a delegation to Vietnam by the middle of February 2012 for inspecting some dried seasoned leather jacket processing plants which exported their products to South Korea.

Vietnam tuna exports to US increased in 2011

(vasep.com.vn) From the middle of 2009 up to now, the U.S. has surpassed EU to become the largest export market for Vietnam tuna. According to General Department of Viet Nam Customs, export value of Vietnam tuna to the U.S. last year reached US$171.37 million, representing a 31.8 percent increase against 2010. The U.S. was the only market remaining two digit growth in importing Vietnam tuna in 2011.

Vietnam pangasius processors lack of raw fish
