(vasep.com.vn) Over the five recent years, Vietnam has remained the leading supplier of pangasius to Singapore. Vietnam’s earnings from fish export to the market were 2 times higher than that of Indonesia – Singapore’s second largest supplier.

(VASEPNews) In the first seven months of 2012, Minh Phu Seafood Corporation (Minh Phu Seafood Corp) exported 17,867 MT of shrimp products for total revenue of US$211.86 million. The figures rose by 32.66 percent in volume and 30.61 percent in value from the same time last year. Minh Phu Seafood Corp still ranked the first place among seafood exporters in Vietnam.

(SeafoodSource) UK fish consumption in 2012 has already matched what our seas can supply for the year, leaving us reliant on imported cod and haddock for fish and chips, campaigners have warned. Annual fish supplies from our seas can only satisfy demand for 233 days, so if the UK were to rely on its own fisheries for the year we would run out of stocks by Tuesday, a report from the New Economics Foundation (NEF) calculated.

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam total production of wild-caught and farmed fish reached 2.627 millon MT in January - June 2012, 5 percent above the same time of 2011, it was still unable to satisfy the country’s need of raw materials for processing for export. Uncertain supply of seafood material(particularly marine fish) and more expensive price of these caused by rising input costs make processors keep increasing their imports of raw seafood from outside.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first half of 2012, Binh Long Company Limited (Bilofish) kept its pangasius export to Middle East stable. Fish sales to this destination started to soar up since July. Middle East market represented a 70 percent proportion of the company’s total earnings from pangasius export.
