(vasep.com.vn) Annually, Mexico imported a large amount of seafood from Vietnam in which tuna is one of products that is loved by Mexican people. Among key Vietnam seafood items exported to Mexico, tuna ranks the second position in export value after pangasius.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first 7 months of this year, seafood exports attained US$3.42 billion, up 8.5 percent over that of the same period of 2011. The increase was attributable to remarkable proportion in export value of tuna and other marine finfish. However, in July 2012, export value only reached US$530.6 million, down slightly 1.5 percent over that of the same period of 2011.

(vasep.com.vn) Taiwan is the largest 7th importer of Vietnam shrimp after Japan, the U.S., China, South Korea, Australia and Germany. Shrimp shipment to the market remained the stable growth during first seven months of 2012.

(VASEPNews) In the first seven months of 2012, exported shrimp to some European countries saw lower price than that in the same period last year, said Banh Quang Ha, Director of Quy Nhon Frozen Seafood Joint Stock Company (Seaprodex F16). To keep foreign partners, Seaprodex No16 kept sending products to this region. Besides, it strengthened shrimp shipments to Egypt and some Asian markets.

(vasep.com.vn) In January - July, export value of frozen, fresh, live squid to French market increased nearly double-fold over that of the same period of last year. For the year to date, France – a single market in EU block - reported the highest growth in imports of Vietnam cephalopod.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first eight months of 2012, Ca Mau Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Im-Ex Joint Stock Company (Agrimexco Ca Mau) has shipped abroad 1,200 MT of shrimp of all varieties and generated total value of US$8.6 million. Japan and the EU represented a 70 percent proportion in the company’s exports.

(cdph.ca.gov) On August 10, 2012, the California Department of Public Health issued a consumer warning against eating shucked and in-shell raw oysters from Drakes Bay Oyster Co. due to possible contamination with Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a bacterium that can cause serious illness. The CDPH advises consumers who purchased the affected oyster products to immediately discard them.
