Catfish Processing Down 6 Percent from Last Year

(NASS-USDA) Farm-raised catfish processed during July 2012 totaled 25.1 million pounds round weight, down 6 percent from July 2011. The average price paid to producers was 84.3 cents per pound for July 2012, down 9.1 cents from last month and 40.9 cents below a year ago.

FDA’s Food facilities registration renewal not available on October 1

(vasep.com.vn) All facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold food products intended for consumption in the U.S. are required to register and renew their registrations every 2 years with FDA under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The first biennial registration renewal period was scheduled from October 1 to December 31, 2012.
