The country is one of three leading fish consumer markets in the EU after Spain and Italia. According to the report by CBI, seafood demand of Portuguese market has not been strongly impacted by economic crisis in the EU.

(SeafoodSource) The University of Nottingham has added Marine Stewardship Council certification to its accolades, allowing it to serve MSC certified sustainable fish to over 32,000 students. The University follows Nottingham’s city and district primary schools which became MSC certified in July 2011.

(vasep.com.vn) In the eight months of 2012, New Wind Seafood Co., Ltd brought back US$8 million from shrimp export, in which Japan accounted 90 percent of its sales. The rest was shipped to South Korea and the U.S. New Wind Seafood traded high value products like breaded shrimp, tempura shrimp,…This period, sales to South Korea and the U.S. remained stable; but shrimp prices paid by Korean buyers were lower than those by Japanese ones.

(SeafoodSource) Pangasius was one of the top movers on the annual U.S. seafood Top 10 list, compiled by the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) with data from the National Marine Fisheries Service. The most popular seafood species in terms of pounds per capita, are: Shrimp, canned tuna, salmon, Alaska pollock, tilapia, pangasius, catfish, crab, cod and clams.
