(vasep.com.vn)Vietnam shrimp export to Japan is going down due to a strict regulation by Japanese authority on Ethoxyquin residue in all imported shrimp from the country. In August 2012, shrimp export to the market downed 16.6 percent after high growth during first seven months.

(vasep.com.vn) From January to September 2012, Yueh Chyang Canned Food earned US$56 million of seafood export, of which 60 percent came from the U.S. The EU markets consumed 30 percent of the company’s products, down 5 percent from the same period last year, mostly due to less sales of swimming crab. In contrast, Long An-based firm’s seafood sales to Asian and Middle East markets went up 5 percent and accounted for 10 percent of the company’s total revenue.

(CDPH – fis.com) The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested mussels and clams, commercially or recreationally caught anchovy and sardines, or the internal organs of commercially or recreationally caught crab and lobster taken from the northern Channel Islands located offshore of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Dangerous levels of the nerve toxin domoic acid have been detected in some of these species and may be present in the other species not yet tested. Domoic acid is a naturally occurring toxin that can cause illness or death in humans.

(vasep.com.vn) To the end of August 2012, Dong Thap province harvested fish in the area of 6,571 hectares. In which, pangasius farming expanse reached 1,457.48 hectares, including 701.49 hectares harvested and other 756 hectares in production. Surface area used for scampi cultivation was 1,206.6 hectares of which 210 hectares are coming into harvest. Superficies for other fish aquaculture reached 3,907 hectares in which 2,026 hectares were harvested and 1,880 hectares were in production.

(vasep.com.vn) From January to August 2012, Hasa Seafood Corporation (Hasaco) saw drop of 10 percent in pangasius export to the EU. Beside this destination, the company sold fish products to some martkets in Asia and South Africa, so less fish sales in the EU did not affected heavily to business of the company.
