(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, in 2012, ASEAN ranked third among Vietnam’s importers of fish paste and surimi products, after South Korea and Japan. Through August 2013, ASEAN has passed Japan to be the second largest market for the products with US$27.3 million, up 14.8 percent against the same period of 2012 and represented 20.3 percent in national surimi exports.

(vasep.com.vn) As Russia recent ban on food from the US, EU and some other countries has been opposed, Vietnam seafood has many oppotunities in the market. However, the number of Vietnam exporters allowed to export seafood to Russia is just 7, which is not sufficient.

Shortage of 70 percent of pangasius seed

(pangasius-vietnam.com) This is on-season of pangasius farming but the pangasius seed supply is seriously low. Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Duong Ngoc Minh said the current supply of fish seed can only meet 30 percent of demand for fish stock. It is expected that until the late April and the early May, seed market sees the recovery.
