Vietnam seafood exports in Feb 2012 increased by 65 percent

(VASEPNews) Annually, seafood exports often reach the lowest level in February due to low demand in international markets and off season harvest. However, in Feb 2012, seafood exports reported a sudden growth of 65 percent from Feb 2011 and 16 percent from Jan 2012 after strong reduction of 16.5 percent in Jan 2012. This is the highest level compared to Feb of previous years.

(fis.com) The Export Inspection Agency (EIA) said that fishing vessels which have not registered with EIAs in their respective states by 15 March will not be granted health certificates or permits to export to the European Union (EU). Seafood exports to the EU have thus come to a halt.

(seafood.com) The Russian budget could receive about 30 billion rubles in additional revenue from certifying seafood caught by domestic fishermen and supplied to countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the Federal Fisheries Agency’s Director Andrei Krainy said.
