Asia focusing on exports of value-added seafood products

(vasep.com.vn) Asia Foodstuff Import Export Co., Ltd (Asia) said that the company's value-added seafood products occupied larger market shares in foreign countries. Focus on value-added products was a measure to help the company solve difficulties due to short supply of raw materials, especially shrimp and mollusks.

Demands for value-added seafood are increasingly stronger in Japan, South Korea and some European markets. Processed and value-added items have been consolidating their part in seafood segment, playing an important role in consumption trend in the global market. Therefore, many seafood companies decided to invest in value-added seafood lines as a new way to develop business.

Asia plans to boost exports of value-added products to new markets as well as continues to produce high quality canned fish products to serve the domestic market.

Between January and August 2013, Asia generated US$6.5 million of exports value.
