Jan – Sep 2014: Pangasius exports up slightly

(vasep.com.vn) In the first 9 months of 2014, Vietnam’s pangasius exports were US$ 1.276 billion, up 0.2% year on year. Pangasius, accounted for 22 % of total seafood export value of Vietnam, was the second most exported seafood, after shrimp.

Shrimp exports hit nearly US$ 3 billion in 9 months

(vasep.com.vn) In the first 9 months of 2014, Vietnam shrimp exports reached US$ 2.93 billion, up 42.3% year on year. The US continued to be the leading import market for shrimp from Vietnam in Q3/2014 although in this quarter, Vietnam shrimp exports to the US were lower than in the first half of 2014.

Ba Ria Vung Tau: seafood exports increased by 13.65%

(vasep.com.vn) According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam’s seafood exports in September reached USD 722 million, bringing total export turnover in nine months to US$ 5.75 billion, up 23.7% year on year. Export growth rates to main markets in the first 9 months remained high. Seafood exports to the US reached US$ 1.28 billion, up 26.8% whilst that to EU was over US$ 1 billion, up 27.1%. Exports to South Korea reached US$ 467 million, up 44.6%.Exports to Japan were US$ 850 million, up 8.4%.

(vasep.com.vn) On 16-17 October 2014, right after the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of Shrimp Standard of ASEAN (held in 14 – 15 October 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand), the stakeholders in the region seafood industry continued to gather to discuss about the Fisheries Improvement Project protocol.

Dong Thap: seafood exports up 17.8% in October

(vasep.com.vn) Data from General Statistics Office, in October, Dong Thap exported 21,983 MT of pangasius, up 2.48% month on month and up 17.8% year on year. Export value reached US$ 56.13 million, up 1.9% month on month and up 14.6% year on year.

Soc Trang: Aquaculture area surges

(vasep.com.vn) Never has the area of aquaculture in Soc Trang risen as sharply as this year. Reports from People's Committee of Soc Trang reveals that total aquaculture farming area in the province in 2014 was approximately 60,000 hectares, of which brackish water shrimp accounted for over 42,000 hectares.

Nam Can District: Seafood exports up 38%

(vasep.com.vn) From the beginning of 2014, Nam Can district has supplied 2,290 MT of processed seafood, 2,000 MT of which were exported. Most of exported seafood products of Nam Can were frozen shrimp. Exports reached US$ 34.5 million, up 38% year on year.

Ca Mau: total production reached 36,000 MT in October

(vasep.com.vn) According to Ca Mau Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, total fisheries production in October was estimated at 36,000 MT, making accumulated fish production of the year to over 418,000 MT.

Vietnam’s tuna exports to the US recovers

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's tuna exports to the US recovered as export value was US$ 43 million, up 12% year on year. Yearly accumulated tuna export value reached over US$ 128 million, down 13%, because the increase in Q3 was not sufficient to make up for the decline at the beginning of the year.
