(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In July 2025, Vietnam's seafood export turnover reached $971 million, a 6.1% increase compared to the same period last year. For the first seven months of 2025, the total export value hit $6.22 billion, reflecting a strong growth of 17.2%. However, these results lies a race against time by many export enterprises to expedite shipments to the United States before August 1, 2025 - the effective date when the new countervailing tariffs announced by the U.S. in early July 2025.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The People’s Committee of Ca Mau Province has recently issued a development plan for the crab sector, with the goal of turning Ca Mau into the largest crab farming center in the Mekong Delta and nationwide. This initiative is part of a key strategy to boost GRDP growth to 8.5% in 2025 and lay the foundation for double-digit growth in the 2026–2030 period.

China remains the largest supplier of white fish to the US during this period. The most popular white fish product among US consumers is frozen tilapia fillets - HS030461.

The EU is considered the most stable growth market for Vietnamese shrimp in the first half of 2025.

(seafood.vasep.com) In the first six months of 2025, Vietnam’s squid and octopus exports achieved positive results, reaching a total value of 335 million USD, a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Of this, squid accounted for 58% with a value of 194 million USD (up 24%), while octopus made up 42% with 141 million USD (up 7%). However, these results were not consistent across all markets, clearly reflecting the opportunities, challenges and technical barriers currently affecting export businesses.

(seafood.vasep.com) In June 2025, Vietnam’s tuna exports experienced a sharp decline after a period of slowing growth. According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, tuna export turnover in June reached over 67 million USD - down 21% compared to the same month in 2024. However, for the first six months of 2025, the total tuna export value totaled 473 million USD, nearly equivalent to the same period last year, reflecting a slight increase of 0.2%.
