Oct 2016: Up 4-fold in Vietnam tuna exports to Italy

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 10 months of 2016, Vietnam’s tuna exports totaled US$410 million, up 5.2% compared to the same period last year. During this period, Vietnam’s enterprises tended to boost exports of frozen tuna loins (HS code 0304) and cooked tuna loin or flake (HS code 1604). Exports of frozen tuna loin reached US$196.3 million, accounting for 47.8% of Vietnam’s total tuna exports.

Oct 2016: Vietnam cephalopod exports rose 6%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports valued at US$341.9 million, down 3.5% compared to the same period in 2015. The figure in Oct 2016 was US$43.6 million, up 5.6% compared to the same period in 2015. Exports were on the upward trend in the recent months.

Among 4 largest markets of Vietnam pangasius, pangasius exports the U.S., China, ASEAN rose 23%; 75.6%; 0.03%; respectively; exports to the EU downed 9.9%. Importing markets and main products are as follows:

Rise in Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the U.S and China

If it keeps the current growth and technical barriers to pangasius shipments to the U.S, in 2017, China - Hong Kong expected to become the leading importer of Vietnam’s pangasius.
