Vinh Long: Boost linkage in production and consumption of pangasius

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the plan of 2018, the area of pangasius farming in Vinh Long province strives to reach an area of 460 hectares with the output of 80 thousand MT. In particular, the locality expected to produce 40 million of pangasius seeds and 1,300 million fries. To achieve the above objectives, Vinh Long province has introduced many solutions to reorganize production in the direction of enhancing chain linkages and community management models such as GAP-certified manufacturing cooperatives.

Ca Mau: Positive growth in shrimp exports

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Mr. Phan Thanh Sang - Head of the Import-Export Management Department, Ca Mau Industry and Trade Department said that in the first two months of 2018, the seafood export turnover in the locality was estimated at US$121.38 million, up 15% over the same period last year, which showed the highest growth compared to other sectors. The fisheries sector is expected to contribute much to the economic growth of the province.

Aquatic product exports bring home 2.4 billion USD in four months

Vietnam earned some 2.4 billion USD from exporting aquatic products in the first four months of 2018, representing a year-on-year rise of 13 percent.

Vietnam cephalopod exports to Canada tend to increase

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In terms of value, Canada ranked the 17th out of top leading cephalopod importers in the world. Although imports into the country only took up 1.2% of the global cephalopod imports in value, those into Canada tended to increase from 2010 to 2016. The import value of cephalopod into the market increased from US$51.5 million in 2010 to US$79 million in 2016. In 2017, the import value into the country decreased by 70% compared to 2016 with US$23.4 million.

Signed a contract for sustainable shrimp production and consumption in accordance with the ASC standard

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) WWF Vietnam has cooperated with Soc Trang Fisheries Sub-Department to hold the signing ceremony on sustainable shrimp production and consumption to meet the shrimp farming practice in accordance with ASC standard between UT XI Aquatic Products Processing Corporation and Toan Thang Cooperative (Vinh Chau Town).
