Vietnam tuna sales saw unstable growth

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In September, Vietnam's tuna exports increased by only 1.4% compared with September 2017, while the growth rate reached 20.4% in August and 2.1% in July, leading to unstable export growth. However, in September, exports of tuna to some markets such as Spain, Canada have spiked.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After 2 months of continuous decline, cephalopod exports of Vietnam has recovered, however, the growth rate is relatively low. According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, the exports value of cephalopod in September 2018 reached US$57 million, with a rise of 3% compared to September 2017, bringing the total export value in the first nine months to US$474 million, increasing by 3.5% over the same period last year.

(vasep.com.vn) Until September 2018, the total value of pangasius exports reached US$1.59 billion, with a rise of 22.6% compared to the same period last year. Especially for the 3rd quarter of 2018, pangasius exports to major markets witnessed positive changes.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Since the second quarter of 2018, Vietnam shrimp export have continuously declined compared with the same period in 2017. In September, Vietnam shrimp exports decreased 14.8% over the same period last year to nearly 332 million USD. Due to the decline in the second quarter and the third quarter of this year, shrimp exports in the first nine months of this year reached $ 2.6 billion, with 4% lower as for the same period in 2017.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Below is the list of enterprises who are committed to purchasing raw materials sourced from legal fishing vessels with clear traceability and only importing legally caught seafood. These enterprises resolutely do not buy catches sourced from illegal fishing vessels operating without permit, logbook and report in accordance with regulations, or fishing with prohibited fishing gears. They say no to the protected species and catches with smaller size than the minimum size limits.
