The Vietnamese Government and the European Commission (EC) have pledged to carry out the Europe-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) in a timely and effective manner.

The tuna export value of Vietnam to the EU in July 2018 reached US$12.6 million; the figure in the first seven months of this year amounted to US$83.7 million, up 22% over the same period last year. This was a good signal in the context of yellow card warning against Vietnamese seafood.

Intensive processing has served as an effective tool for Vietnamese shrimp exporters to improve their competitive capacity in the context of a steep increase in the global supply which brought down the price and demand for shrimp in major markets.

Vietnam earned 369.1 million USD from exporting tra fish to the US in the first nine months of this year, up 42.9 percent year-on-year.

According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to South Korea in July 2018 reached nearly US$ 20 million, down 2.8% over July 2017.

On October 18th 2018, the EU and the Republic of Korea have pledged to work closely together to fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing with a joint statement signed by European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, and Mr Kim Young-Choon, Minister for Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea. The signing took place on the eve of a bilateral EU-Republic of Korea Summit.

Currently, Egypt was also Vietnam's second largest tuna importing market in the Middle East. Vietnam's tuna exports to Egypt in the first seven months of 2018 showed the impressive growth of 244% over the same period of 2017.

Ornamental fish farming is among the segments HCM City targets to develop with the aim of boosting the whole agricultural sector.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) While Vietnam’s cephalopod sales to other major markets decreased, exports to Russia remained the impressive growth. From the beginning of the year, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to Russia posted the continuous growth. In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to Russia hit nearly US$3.2 million, an increase of 334% over the same period in 2017. Vietnam mainly shipped fresh/live/frozen cephalopod to this market. Of that, exports of fresh/live/frozen octopus accounted for more than 88% of Vietnam's cephalopod export value to Russia.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's tuna exports to Russia in the first seven months of this year rose by 57% to see nearly US$8 million. The figure experienced the continuous growth from the beginning of 2018. And currently Russia was put in the top 10 largest importing markets of Vietnamese tuna.
