In several localities, including Vinh Bao, Tien Lang, and Thuy Nguyen districts, intensive farming models for red tilapia and tilapia are being expanded. These systems incorporate recirculating water technology, automatic aeration systems, and sensor-based environmental monitoring. The application of advanced technologies enables farmers to better control water quality, reduce risks associated with extreme weather, and improve productivity.

According to the local agricultural sector, climate change—characterized by prolonged heatwaves, unusually heavy rainfall, and fluctuations in water quality—has created significant challenges for freshwater aquaculture. Under these conditions, red tilapia and tilapia are considered well suited to changing environmental conditions due to their strong adaptability, rapid growth, and stable market demand.

Many farms have shifted from traditional farming methods to high-tech production systems, integrating commercial feeds, biological products, and automated management systems to reduce production costs, minimize disease risks, and improve product quality. As a result, the productivity of red tilapia and tilapia farming in some areas has increased significantly compared to conventional farming methods.

In addition to red tilapia and tilapia, other freshwater species such as grass carp, common carp, and hemibagrus catfish are also cultured locally, although they play a supplementary role in the production structure. Hai Phong aims to further expand high-tech aquaculture zones in the coming years, promoting sustainable production, increasing value-added output, and strengthening the sector's resilience to climate change.
