In 2026, Quang Tri aims to achieve a total seafood output of around 143,500 tons, with a focus on sustainable development. The province maintains nearly 9,400 hectares of aquaculture, while promoting reservoir farming and restructuring marine capture fisheries. Shrimp farming alone currently covers about 2,320 hectares, mainly concentrated along rivers and coastal areas, with an annual output of approximately 7,790 tons.

To ensure an effective farming season, authorities have issued a stocking calendar. In riverine farming areas, whiteleg shrimp stocking is scheduled from March 15 to June 30, 2026, while sand-based farming areas may begin as early as February 15, 2026, provided that infrastructure conditions are met.

Farmers are actively preparing ponds, treating the environment, and selecting certified seed. The agricultural sector is encouraging the adoption of advanced farming models such as VietGAP, multi-stage farming, larger seed stocking, and cooperative production models to improve efficiency.

At the same time, environmental monitoring, disease control, and seed quality management are being strengthened to ensure safe and stable production throughout 2026.
