In February 2025, the total aquaculture area across Vinh Long Province reached 1,987 hectares, of which 298.6 hectares were dedicated to industrial pangasius farming.

The notable increase in farming area is primarily attributed to the sustained operations of large-scale farms. The previous crop cycle reached harvest time, while favorable consumption and export conditions, coupled with stable and high market prices for commercial pangasius, encouraged farmers to reinvest with confidence.
The estimated total aquaculture and capture fisheries output in the first two months of 2025 reached 19,637.8 metric tons. Of this, aquaculture contributed approximately 18,707.8 metric tons, with industrially farmed pangasius alone accounting for 8,995 metric tons.
