Vietnamese pangasius sees opportunities from the Brazilian market

Last year, Covid-19 hit the largest economy in Latin America. However, according to analysis from GlobalData data, one-third of the country's population is looking to buy nutritious, healthy frozen seafood products such as pangasius. In the first half of 2021, sales of seafood, frozen foods, especially convenience products, have increased.

In the first half of 2021, there are about 20 Vietnamese pangasius enterprises exporting to the Brazilian market, of which the largest exporters are SOUTH VINA - Can Tho; HH FISH - Ben Tre and CADOVIMEX II - Dong Thap.

Currently, Vietnamese companies are exporting mainly frozen pangasius fillets to Brazil. However, according to a report by GlobalData, the demand for convenient processed products is increasing strongly in this country. In particular, in Brazil's most populous and richest city, São Paulo, which is considered a leader in the national consumption trend, people are looking for convenient, nutritious and healthy frozen or processed seafood products.

Having been the hardest hit by the COVID-19 epidemic and having been the country with the second highest number of deaths from COVID-19 after the US, now many cities and state capitals in Brazil are miraculously reviving thanks to rapid vaccination campaign. Therefore, this is a good time for Vietnamese pangasius exporters to increase their market share in this country.
