By 2030, the province targets a total water surface area of 3,000 hectares for pangasius farming (equivalent to 4,615 hectares of natural area), with an expected output of 801,000 metric tons, representing an average annual growth rate of 5.6%. The total production value is projected to exceed VND 13,000 billion, creating employment for approximately 6,900 workers.

Looking ahead to 2050, Dong Thap envisions a fully industrialized and modernized pangasius sector, aligned with market demands and emphasizing green, circular, and biosecure production models that meet international export standards. By that time, the province aims to increase annual pangasius output to 900,000 metric tons.

The provincial government has assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to lead the dissemination and implementation of the plan, including formulating action plans, reviewing existing policies, mobilizing investment, and conducting monitoring and adjustments in accordance with regulatory frameworks.

Relevant departments, agencies, and localities are instructed to coordinate closely to ensure consistency with the Provincial Master Plan for 2021–2030, with Vision to 2050. Priority will be given to budget allocation and resource mobilization to ensure the effective execution of the proposed plan.
