HaLong Simexco to export nearly 30 MT of octopus

In October 2011, the company traded abroad 6.7 MT of frozen octopus and 4 million of fish cakes to this market.

In  2010,  fisheries  in  the  North  and  Central  regions  of  Vietnam  saw  poor harvest  of  octopus.  To ensure  jobs  for  thousands  of  local  workers,  HaLong Simexco imported raw octopus from India for processing, however, since early 2010, octopus price was soaring by 40 – 50 percent over the previous period.

So far this year, HaLong Simexco focuses on purchasing frozen cephalopods from  domestic  sources  and  imported  only  fish  for  processing  fish  cake  for export to Japan.
