Exports of this product group continue to record good growth in both traditional and emerging markets.

The European Union (EU) is currently the largest importer of clams from Vietnam. Of which, Italy continues to lead with 10 million USD (as of May 15, 2025), an increase of 39% over the same period in 2024. Spain holds the second position with nearly 9 million USD, the same level as the same period last year.

Meanwhile, exports to China are growing at a three-digit rate, up 381%, becoming Vietnam's third largest clam import market with a turnover of more than 8 million USD. Exports to the US and South Korea are growing positively.

Some traditional markets such as the Netherlands, Japan, the UK and Singapore recorded a decrease, of which the Netherlands decreased by 56% and Japan decreased by 38%, indicating competition or changes in consumer demand in these markets.

Currently, Vietnam has many clam farming areas that have achieved sustainability certification such as Ben Tre certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh certified by ASC... These certifications are considered "passports" for Vietnamese clams to expand in many demanding markets such as the EU, the US, Japan, Australia...

In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnamese clam products were present in 49 markets around the world. With advantages in domestic production and a large market for consumption, and a sustainable direction, it is expected that Vietnam's export of this product will continue to grow positively.
