(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In August 2023, Vietnam's tuna exports reached more than 87 million USD, down 5% over the same period last year. This is the lowest decrease and the highest value since the beginning of this year. Cumulatively in the first 8 months of this year, tuna exports reached 545 million USD, down 25% over the same period.

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's cephalopod exports in the first 8 months of 2023 reached 417 million USD, down 15% over the same period last year. In August 2023 alone, exports of this product reached 67 million USD, down 11% over the same period. Despite continuing to see a decline, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports in August had a smaller decrease in value compared to other key seafood products.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) While other countries in the CPTPP bloc reduced tuna imports from Vietnam, Chile has continuously increased imports since the beginning of 2023. Only in August 2023, tuna exports to this country will increase by 75%, reaching nearly 1.3 million USD.

Vietnam's tuna export turnover has increased 2.5 times after just 10 years of Vietnam and the US establishing a comprehensive partnership, reaching a record level of nearly 487 million USD in 2022.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first half of August 2023, pangasius exports to the UK reached nearly 2 million USD, down 41% compared to the same period last year (more than 3 million USD), accounting for 3%. As of August 15 2023, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to this market reached nearly 42 million USD, down 2.4% over the same period in 2022 - a lighter decline than the sharp decline in exports to other major markets such as the US, EU, and China.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the end of July 2023, Vietnam's pangasius exports had surpassed the 1 billion USD mark, representing a 37% decline compared to the same period in 2022. Projections indicate that for the entirety of 2023, pangasius exports may reach 1.7 billion USD, signaling a 30% reduction compared to the preceding year. These insights were shared by Ms. Le Hang, the Communications Director of VASEP, during her speaking at the International Pangasius Outlook Forum 2023, organized by VASEP on August 24, 2023, as part of the Vietfish Fair 2023 framework.
