(seafood.vasep.com.vn) At the 2023 General Meeting of Members and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of VASEP held on June 12, 2023, Mr. Do Ngoc Tai - Vice Chairman of VASEP, Chairman of Shrimp Committee - Director of Tai Kim Anh Seafood JSC gave a presentation on the situation of shrimp exports in the last 6 months of 2023.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Statistics from China Customs show that in the first 5 months of 2023, China imported nearly 137 thousand tons of pangasius, 16.5% higher than the same period last year. Particularly, whole pangasius butterfly cut products imports increased by 105% reaching 42.1 thousand tons. Import volume of frozen pangasius fillets reached nearly 95 thousand tons, decreased slightly by 2%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Fishery output in the second quarter of 2023 was estimated at 2,370.4 thousand tons, up 1.6% over the same period last year. Specifically, fish reached 1,680.5 thousand tons, up 1.2%; shrimp reached 352.3 thousand tons, up 3.8%; other aquatic products reached 337.6 thousand tons, up 0.9%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's tuna exports in May 2023 continued to decrease by 26% over the same period in 2022, reaching nearly $70 million. Therefore, in the first 5 months of the year, tuna exports still decreased by 31% compared to the same period last year, reaching more than 317 million USD.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's seafood exports to the US in the first 5 months of 2023 decreased by nearly half compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 563 million USD. All major products experienced a sharp decline of 30-60%. Exports of shrimp and pangasius fell the most, 42% and 62% lower than the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to customs statistics, Vietnam seafood exports in the first 5 months of 2023 were 29% lower than the same period last year, reaching only about 3.4 billion USD. Particularly, seafood export turnover in May reached over USD 808 million, the highest since the beginning of the year, showing a signal that the market is getting better. Key commodities are gradually reducing the decline over the same period. Exports to key markets such as the US, EU, China, Japan, and South Korea all achieved the highest sales since the beginning of the year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has just sent a diplomatic note to the General Administration of Customs People Republic of China requesting consideration of some additional fruits, species, aquatic products and a number of enterprises permitted to export aquatic products into China.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the end of April 2023, Vietnam's pangasius export turnover to the EU reached 60 million USD, down 8% over the same period in 2022, up 70% over the same period in 2021 and accounting for 11% of Vietnam's pangasius exports. In April 2023, pangasius exports to this market reached 15 million USD, down 21% compared to the previous month and down 18% compared to the same period last year.
