(vasep.com.vn) In the first month of 2013, Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) recognized five more Vietnamese pangasius companies for their sustainable fish farming operations. There were Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company, Docifish Corporation, To Chau Joint Stock Company, Hung Ca Company Limited, NTSF Seafoods Joint Stock Company.

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam seafood exports in January 2013 reached US$486.7 million, up 34.1% over the same month of 2012. Shipment to main markets recorded a double to triple digit growth with the largest growth of 111% to ASEAN. It was followed by China and Hong Kong with a rise of 97%, Brazil 89% and Australia 84.5%. Exports to others increased by 15 – 20%, except for Russia with negative growth of 40%.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, seafood exports to South Korea reached US$509 million, up 6.5 percent from 2011. The market took the proportion of 8.3 percent out of Vietnam’s total seafood exports.

The provinces in the Cuu Long (Mekong) River Delta plan to increase the area for aquaculture by 2,200 ha to 745,000 ha this year, yielding 1.7 million tonnes of fish and 370,000 tonnes of shrimp.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, Vietnam seafood exports to the market generated US$1.10 billion, up 9.3 percent against 2011. Japan is the largest importer of Vietnam shrimp but in 2012, the market imposed Ethoxyquin inspection on shrimp originated from the country. As a result, seafood exports to the market fell down in the late year.
