(NASS-USDA) Farm-raised catfish processed during March 2012 totaled 27.7 million pounds round weight, down 9 percent from March 2011. The average price paid to producers was $1.20 per pound for March 2012, down 2.8 cents from last month but 12.6 cents above a year ago.

Canada presents its seafood products in 150 different markets and becomes one of the world’s big exporters. Yet local fisheries’ production volume does not respond to domestic demand.
