Vietnam exported shrimp price rose in the first half of 2013

(vasep.com.vn) Reports from main shrimp importers (the U.S., EU, Japan) showed that the shrimp price tends to increase rapidly. In 2013, many shrimp producers in Asia - the largest region producing shrimp in the world – continued to suffer from outbreaks of early mortality syndrome (EMS).

Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre (VNCPC), Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and other partners on August 2nd 2013 launched a new project entitled “Establishing a Sustainable Pangasius Supply Chain in Vietnam" (SUPA). The project is worth of 2.4 million euro, of which the European Union finances 1.9 million Euro under the EU SWITCH-Asia Programme. The project is implemented by VNCPC in partnership with VASEP, WWF-Vietnam and WWF- Austria.

An Giang: Unanimity among export companies to develop pangasius production and export

(vasep.com.vn) Pangasius export is one of the key businesses in the Mekong Delta area in Vietnam, especially in An Giang province. The pangasius industry has created more than 500,000 jobs and brought back wealth for over 5,000 fish household in the region. Between January and June 2013, An Giang-based companies exported 87 thousand MT of pangasius, having a worth of US$218 million.

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam and Belgium governments are discussing plans to establish a seafood distribution centre at the port of Zeebrugge in northwestern Belgium, said the Belgian Ambassador in Vietnam, Bruno Angelet, during the meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on July 23rd 2013.
