Batches of tra fish products manufactured under a high-tech production process have been shipped to the EU, South America, ASEAN, China, and the Middle East by a company based in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.

Vietnam aims to develop its fisheries sector into a large commodity production industry with competitive capacity and responsible and sustainable integration in line with international institutions, contributing to improving incomes for industry workers.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) One month after the EVFTA Agreement took effect, in August 2020, the total value of seafood exports to the EU reached nearly US$ 98 million, a slight increase of 1% over the same period in 2019. This has reflected the positive impact of the EVFTA Agreement in promoting the export of seafood products with incentive tax (0%) right from the date of the agreement's entry into force. Exports of shrimp, squid, and octopus all increased over the same period in 2019 and compared to July 2020, before EVFTA comes into effect.

In particular, the value of exports to most major markets went down, except for the UK market, which lifted by 23.8% over the same period in 2019.

Fishermen in south-central Khanh Hoa province have begun to apply technology in fishing over recent years and posted remarkable results in terms of catches and earnings. Modern technology has helped them improve their standard of living while also protecting national sovereignty at sea.

A workshop was held in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on October 10 to promote tuna supply chain, and tuna exports to the EU under the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The slump in fisheries exports eased in September, with estimated revenue reaching 820 million USD, an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
