Shrimp output reaches 132.6 thousand tons in the first two months of 2026
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first two months of 2026, Vietnam’s fisheries sector maintained positive growth momentum, with shrimp output exceeding 132 thousand tons. This result contributed to a strong increase in seafood export turnover, despite ongoing volatility in the global economy.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam’s fisheries production continued to show encouraging signs during the period. Total fisheries output was estimated at 1.279 million tons, up 2.9% year-on-year. Of this, shrimp production reached approximately 132.6 thousand tons, playing a key role in the sector’s overall growth.
Aquaculture remained the main driver, with output estimated at 722.6 thousand tons, up 4.4% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, capture fisheries production reached around 556.6 thousand tons. The stability of aquaculture activities, including shrimp farming, has been a crucial factor in maintaining supply for both domestic markets and exports.
