Chilean mussel exporters continued their banner year for revenues reporting a near 25 percent year-over-year increase in exported values in September on a notable increase in shipped volumes.
According to InfoTrade, Chilean mussel exports totaled 55,908 tons through September up from 50,670 tons the same time a year ago. Most of this demand is in Europe, since via US figures volumes are nearly flat, with only 3573 tons imported so far this year through September.
The increase in shipments was accompanied with a 24.9 percent increase in exported revenues. Through September, Chilean shipments have amounted to US$159.1 million compared with $127.3 million a year ago.
The increase in total shipped volumes was accompanied by a per kilogram price increase that rose from $2.51/kg to $2.85/kg.
Blue Shell continues to be the top Chilean exporter followed by St. Andrews Smoky Delicacies and Camanchaca.
