(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Exports of Vietnam seafood products to South Korea are expected to increase strongly this year thanks to the free trade agreement between the two countries that took effect last December, according to the representative of the Korea Fishery Trade Association.
He said at the Busan International Seafood & Fisheries EXPO 2016 (BISFE EXPO 2016)'s press meeting recently held by the Korean Fishery Trade Association (KFTA) & the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The BISFE Expo in Busan city is the largest international seafood trade exhibition in South Korea. BISFE Expo 2015 has the participation of 400 enterprises from 26 countries worldwide. Vietnam had 12 enterprises.
This year's fair will take place from October 27 to 29 with 800 booths from 400 enterprises worldwide displaying and introducing seafood products and seafood processing equipments.
At the press meeting, the Korean representative said that Korean market favors seafood products from Vietnam like shrimp, pangasius, tilapia…thanks to its food safety and hygiene.
“We will strive to do our best to introduce potential exporters to Vietnamese exhibitors at BISFE to create conditions for the two sides to develop business connections and come up with a trade agreement right at the fair,” he said.
