Press Release: Moving forward together

A dialogue between European importers, retailers, Vietnamese exporters, government representatives and other stakeholders, to address challenges in the pangasius supply chain.

Your every day fish

Over the last 15 years, the Vietnamese aquaculture sector and fish processing industry, with the support of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), have successfully introduced pangasius to markets world-wide as an affordable, healthy choice. An ideal mix ‘n match fish that fits in every cuisine.A tasteful bite in salads, soups, curries, seafood combo’s and more.A truly every day fish!

Safe
Pangasius is also a safe fish. As part of our commitment to concerns about health and safety we produce panga fillets in compliance with strict international food safety and quality management standards, assured through GlobalGAP, BAP, HACCP, BRC and IFS certification.

Responsible
In line with our ambition to make the supply chain sustainable, addressing the environmental and social impact in the production process, pangasius is increasingly produced responsibly and ASC certified. In this process, the sector is actively supported by the European Union (EU) through a SwitchAsia program:  “Establishing a Sustainable Pangasius Supply Chain in Vietnam” (SUPA).

Higher quality standards

But, we want to go further. We want to develop your everyday fish everyday better. With legislative support from our government (Decree No.36/2014/ND-CP, that took effect from 20 June 2014) we are able to offer consumers world-wide an even better product. The Decree regulates raising, processing, and exporting of pangasius and provides a positive change to the industry and image of Vietnam pangasius.

Moving forward together

On this journey to improve the supply chain, in terms of product quality and sustainability, we want our partners to share the same vision, and to collaborate to find solutions to the challenges we both face. Solutions which are mutually beneficial, that will help the different stakeholders for long term success in marketing this unique and valuable fish. The annual business forum in Brussels where European importers and retailers meet with Vietnamese exporters, government representatives and other stakeholders, provides a unique platform for a fruitful dialogue. We are grateful to move forward together!

(The Business Forum is organized with support of the Centre for the promotion of imports from developing countries - CBI, in collaboration with SUPA (Establishing a Sustainable Pangasius Supply Chain in Vietnam), a joint project of VNCPC, VASEP and WWF)
