In 2024 Vietnam tuna exports slow to recover

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's tuna industry closes in 2023 with a slight growth in the last month of the year, up 7% over the same period in 2022, reaching 73 million USD. Thus, for the whole year 2023, Vietnam's tuna industry had earned 845 million USD, down 17% compared to 2022.

Vietnam tuna exports to Canada accelerated

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Continuing the growth momentum in September, Vietnam's tuna exports to Canada grew continuously in the last months of the year. In November 2023 alone, the value of tuna exports to Canada increased by 117% of proportion. This figure has contributed to raising the total export value in the first 11 months of 2023 to nearly 31 million USD, down 37% of proportion compared to the same period in 2022.

Vietnam's surimi industry needs more efforts

In the past five years, Vietnam's fish paste and surimi industry earned from 300-420 million USD each year, including surimi from marine fish and pangasius, accounting for 4%-5% of the country's total seafood exports.
